International Pinewood DerbyThe International Pinewood Derby is the same great car racing
event that every cub scout loves, but the stakes are raised when we
invite the Cub Scouts from the Scouting Association of Japan
to join in on the fun. It's a great opportunity to learn about the
local Scouting Program and meet some new friends. This year it
will be held in conjunction with the
Spring Family Camp. District DinnerThe annual District Dinner recognizes Scouters for all their hard work over the previous year. Awards such as the District Award of Merit, Golden Spark Plug (Award for the Scouter in each unit that provided that extra spark to the unit program), and the Silver Shisa (recognizing outstanding work for to the District Program), and the coveted award for Cubmaster/Scoutmaster of the Year are given out. For more information on the District Dinner click here. Scout FairThe Scout Fair is a combination Show-N-Do and Spring Recruitment Program. Our aim is to highlight Scouting in a public area and invite boys and families to come out and see what we do. We would like each unit to set up a display, craft, game, or teach a skill. This can really do a lot to get our program out there! We look forward to your participation. Greater Okinawa Scouting Committee (GOSC)The Greater Okinawa Scouting Committee (GOSC) meets monthly and is made up of members of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) from our District and the Okinawa Council, Scouting Association of Japan (SAJ). Joint activities are planned and events between BSA and SAJ units are encouraged. Check out upcoming events and more info on GOSC. If you would like to make contact with a local SAJ unit please contact the Okinawa Service Center. Jamboree on the InternetJamboree-on-the-Internet, or JOTI, is an annual Scouting event sponsored by the World Scout Bureau of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. This event utilizes computers and the Internet. Thousands of Scout groups can be contacted during the weekend. In the United States, Cub Scout dens and Boy Scout patrols can meet and, under the supervision of leadership, make many new friends. Councils and districts can host a JOTI event at Scout shows or other events where computers can be connected to the Internet. Learn more about it here. BSA National Jamboree 2010In 2010 the Boy Scouts of America will celebrate their 100th Anniversary with a bang.
