Barbara Johnson, our Scout Store Manager, and her family will be relocating to Boise, Idaho. Barbara’s last day will be December 10th. Be sure to stop by and wish her a fond farewell. Barbara has done an outstanding job and we’ll miss her around here.

December is charter renewal month for most of our units. Please get ready to get your charter paperwork completed in a timely manner. Packets were distributed at the October Roundtable. Completed re-charters are due into the office by December 15th so that they ca be submitted before the end of the year. If you have questions, please contact your Unit Commissioner or call Tom at 645-9236.
Your charter is your license to operate your Scouting unit.
Mark your calendar for February 20-22 for our next Jamborette! This is a program for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Girl Scouts and is always a premier program. We will have more information as the committee meets and makes program decisions. More information about the Jamobrette will be published here as soon as we have more information.

University of Scouting
Mark your calendar for the University of Scouting to be held on Saturday, January 10th. The University will offer a variety of Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturing classes. Sign-up materials will be distributed at the December Roundtable.

Did you know…the Marine Corps Thrift Shop is the single largest contributor to Scouting on Okinawa! Please consider a service project in your unit to help at the Thrift Shop, they can always use a hand. Contact the store at 645-6025 to schedule a time to work.

The James E. West Award is presented to individuals who donate $1,000.00 to the council endowment fund. Endowment money stays with the council. Only the interest generated by the endowment fund is used to help financially support the council. We currently have about $200,000.00 in this fund. Each year we strive to get 12 new James E. West Fellows. If you are interested in becoming a James E. West Fellow, please contact Jennifer Smith, our District Finance Chairman, at jennifermaesmith@hotmail.com
Our next Boy Scout summer camp will be held at Torii Station during the Spring Break week. Camp will start on Sunday, April 5th and end on Saturday, April 11th. Be sure to mark your calendar! Information and sign-up materials will be available at the January Roundtable. We will have the traditional summer camp programs as well as a few new ones. We’ll keep you posted as information becomes available. DON’T MISS IT!
Who can eat 800 hot dogs, 400 bags of chips , 1,200 cookies and drink 25 gallons of lemonade? The Cub Scouts and families at Family camp! We had a great turn-out with 119 families participating. A big “SCOUT THANK YOU” to Sonnie Kay, Donna Sargent and their staff for a terrific weekend!

Our FOS Program for 2009 is a little different than past years. We ask that units submit $50.00 per registered family. Your unit will receive a 20% discount for Summer Camp and a 10% store discount. These fees need to be paid by February 1st to qualify. Then, we would like to do a presentation at a Pack Meeting or Troop Court of Honor and ask individual families for their support. Individual recognition items will be available.
